What is it?

Bonding is a procedure in which tooth-colored materials are applied to the surface of a tooth. The bonding material is extremely strong enabling you to use the bonded teeth exactly as you would your other teeth.

What is it used for?

Bonding covers discolorations, repairs chips and cracks, and fills gaps. It can be used to lengthen teeth, reduce unsightly gaps between teeth, enlarge an abnormally small tooth, and reshape a crooked tooth. The bonding procedure repairs and protects your teeth from further damage.

Does it hurt?

No! It is virtually a painless procedure that is usually completed in one visit and can easily transform imperfections into a flawless smile. In most cases you will not need an anesthetic.

How is it done?

The bonding process involves etching the tooth surface with a conditioning solution that allows the bonding material (composite resin) to adhere. To match your own teeth, Dr. Burba will blend various colors of bonding material so the tooth will look completely natural. After application, the bonding resin is contoured into the proper shape and hardened with a special light. It is then smoothed and polished creating a bright new smile.
