Can you believe it’s already November?! With the holidays coming up, we know it can be a stressful time of year. In all of the madness, it’s easy to forget to be thankful for all of the awesome things you have.
Studies have shown that it’s actually super important for you to take some time to remember all of the things you have to be grateful for. Gratitude can change your life and alter your perception for the better. A life without gratitude is often an unhappy, unfilled life. Putting a little gratitude in your daily life is the first step to achieving many of your hopes, dreams, and goals.
This year, whether you’re stuck in traffic, stressed about work, family, or something else– remember these 7 ways you can be thankful and show gratitude.
1.) Keep a Blessings Journal.
Try and take a few minutes every night before bed to write down the things you appreciated throughout the day. This is a great way to reflect on how far you’ve come over the years and everything you’ve accomplished.
2.) Practice Forgiveness.
No matter how mad you get or how right you think you are, always be willing to say you’re sorry to those you truly love and appreciate. Be willing to compromise in life. You can either be right or you can be happy– it’s your choice!
3.) Show Grace.
When someone challenges your actions or words, show grace by listening to what they say and being polite. You never really know what someone else might be going through, so don’t take their actions personally and show them kindness– even if it’s hard.
4.) Get Perspective.
Putting things in perspective can make a world of difference and make you start to feel grateful for everything around you. For instance, you might be upset about how expensive your electric bill is. By getting some perspective you start to realize just how lucky you are to even have electricity and a home that needs it.
5.) Don’t Complain For 24 Hours.
This one might seem easy…but it’s not. When you actively pay attention to your thoughts and words, you’ll be surprised at how many things you actually complain about. Try not to complain and instead start to appreciate the things around you. At least for 24 hours. We bet you’ll notice a difference in how you feel.
This one is easy– just smile. All the time! Share a smile with loved ones and strangers on the street. While not everyone will smile back, it’s certainly worth the effort to keep doing it. Smiles are contagious, so do your part to spread happiness.

7.) Praise Others.
When you’re on the receiving end of great service, let others know about the job well done. Tell supervisors about the excellent service you received. It’s amazing how well you can make yourself feel when you praise others.
We hope you can take these 7 pieces of advice and start showing gratitude in your life. Just remember to be consistent. This works best if you commit to showing your appreciation and gratitude every day– not just when things are going great.
