1.) Painted Lawn Stars

Transform your lawn in no time.
We absolutely LOVE this craft from the concrete cottage. All it takes to transform your lawn into a patriotic paradise is a piece of old cardboard with a star cut out, and some construction marking spray paint.
This paint is specifically made for grass– so you don’t have to worry about it killing your garden. It’s intended to be sprayed upside down, and you can find it at any home improvement store. It dries very quickly and is permanent– until your grass grows out and you mow it.
Supplies:
-A piece of cardboard
-Construction marking paint
-Star stencil
-Xacto knife
-Sharpie
Directions:
1.) Use the sharpie and stencil to draw a star on your cardboard.
2.) Use the xacto knife to cut it out.
3.) Place on desired part of lawn and spray.
4.) Repeat as many times as necessary.
2.) Fun & Games Station

5.) Tin Can Luminaries

Make your own luminaries.
Our final DIY decoration comes to you from the creative minds at Crafts For All Seasons. It’s a little more time consuming than the other crafts, but the concept is simple and we promise you’ll love the results.
Supplies:
– Empty vegetable or soup cans, cleaned out and labels removed
-Water
-Nail
-Hammer
-Ruler
-Tape
-Red, white, and blue spray paint
-Scrap paper
-Scissors
Directions:
1.) Fill the cans up to the top with water and place them in the freezer until the water is frozen solid. This will allow you to hammer a nail into the side of the can without the can denting.
2.) Figure out what designs you want on your luminaries. Draw them freehand or if you have a template feel free to use it.
3.) Use a nail and hammer to punch out the design. Start at one end of the pattern and place the nail along the line. Gently pound the nail in with a hammer. The nail will go through the can into the ice. Continue working around the pattern until the design is punched out.
4.) Let the ice melt and the can dry.
5.) Spray the bottom portion of the cans blue with the blue spray paint.
6. ) Cut a piece of scrap paper to wrap around the can. Make it 1/3 the height of the can. Wrap the paper around the bottom part of the can, covering the blue painted area, and tape it closed.
7.) Spray the white spray paint, and allow the cans to dry well. When they’re dry you can remove the paper strip.
8.) Make another paper strip 2/3 the height of the can. Secure around the blue and white portions of the can, leaving only the top portion exposed, and secure with tape. Spray the top section with the red spray paint, and allow to dry. Remove the paper strip and you will see the pretty red, white, and blue stripes.
Have Fun!
However you’re celebrating America’s birthday, remember to be safe and have fun. If you make any of these– we’d love to see the results! Do you have any DIY crafts to add to our list?
